Fightnight V

On the 20th May 2012, we held our fifth FightNight. This is a gaming event that a friend and I hold every third week of the month in Chepstow, South Wales. We had a slight venue change due to The Three Tuns (our regular venue) having their own event that week. It was still held in Chepstow, but up the top of town at the Smirnoff Bar, where we were kindly given the use of the “club” back room of the bar by Alison – Thanks again. We held 5 tournaments, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Super Smash Brothers Brawl (singles / doubles) and Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition.

The event was a huge success (even though we had to cut one of the finals to a one round scrap for travel reasons) we had one of our largest turnouts with just under 20 people coming to play / support the event and would like to thank everyone that came down.

Fighting Game Tournaments

If you play fighting games, such as Super Street Fighter VI, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 or Street Fighter Third Strike and live in the south wales area it may be worth checking out southwalesfightnight.wordpress.com

Fightnight Is an event that I run with a friend (davey) in the southwales area for fighting games. We have just come off our second torunament where we doubled our numbers from the first event and tripled the amount of setups and games that we included on the night. We aim to hold these events mid month on a Sunday, Last event was from 5pm to 10pm which proved to be popular. Competitors are encouraged to bring their own set-ups and controllers / sticks but if you cant we always have some that you can borrow. The events are free, but we do hope you will buy a drink or 2 from the pub we hold it at in chepstow (The Three Tuns) that lets us host the event. Also if you live in the Bristol area you should check out Sodium Showdown. These guys are the pros and have been running tournaments a lot longer than us, holding their event in Bristol draws a much larger crowd and a higher caliber of player. If you are interested check them out on facebook at facebook.com/groups/superminerbattlefarm They run tournaments for Super Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom, Street Fight Third Strike, Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix, Blazblue and King of Fighters.
